Updates about Wes, Laura, ( Wes’s wife) and Roselyn from the last two years
2018, Roselyn finished her residency in psychiatry, and started working in Hamilton as a psychiatrist. She and Len had a Father/Daughter celebration in Detroit during a Jazz festival. She has been dating a guy “Stephen” for about a year. We like him 😊, and they seem to be happy together. We were able to visit over Easter and they visited us in June.
2018, Wes completed his doctorate in education, focused on Adapted Physical Education. Wes and Laura moved to Lafayette, Louisiana and he started as Assistant Professor at University of Lafayette. Laura is working at a facility for autistic children. Roselyn joined us at Wes’s for Christmas 2018 and that was where our photo was taken.
2019: Wes, Laura, Jacque and I ( Len) met back in Charlottesville in May to be a part of Wes’s deferred hooding ceremony, and some fun time together.
Travel
Most of our family live all over the US. Roselyn is the closest being only 7 hours away. So, most trips we take are to visit family. While visiting we have had some great adventures and scenery along with visiting those we love. Here are our adventures…
May 2018 California We had an extended trip to California for Jason’s ( my brother’s stepson) wedding at Yosemite Falls in Yosemite and then visited Hearst Castle, drove Highway 1 and spent time with my brother, Bob and Wendy; and my niece, Shelly, and her family. Then I flew out again in October (2018) for time with Shelly, Dave, Holland, and Henry.
May 2019: Washington DC Jacque and I visited my cousin Elizabeth Blakeslee for a week in DC. She was a great host and we and saw the famous sights.
October 2019: Ohio We had a small “Wilson-Blakeslee” reunion in Columbus, Ohio. We were joined by my sister Margaret’s delightful son and family “Tyler, Christy, Ryan, Conner and Hudson. Also, her daughter Leslie came. My late sister’s husband, Stock and cousin Elizabeth also joined us.
November 2019: Ontario Canada Wes and Laura flew to Hamilton for an “early “ family Christmas. Len joined them for the fun activities, but since I had just had surgery, I was not allowed to travel to join the festivities.
Remodel: This started officially March 2018, and most is completed. The kitchen was taken apart soon after Thanksgiving 2018, so December I ( Jacque) was here some days but often needed to leave and go to the cabin in Sturgis because of all the work being done. I learned that you can cook with just a microwave and crock pot, and since there was no sink, dishes were washed in a small bathroom sink. My Christmas decorations in 2018 were a poinsettia, Christmas dish towel, and Len bought a small tree. I was most grateful this May to have the flooring in and not walk on concrete. We both do love the new kitchen and all that we have done. Remodeling stops when there are rental turnovers, health issues, and family travel.
We wish you courage to face the challenges of 2020, and peace and joy in the journey.
